Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) on Sunday said a second Biden administration would be disastrous for the world, dismissing suggestions by former Rep. Liz Cheney that a second Trump term would be bad.

In an appearance on CNN’s “State of the Union,” Mr. Graham was asked about Ms. Cheney’s recent comments during a CBS interview, in which she said the United States would be “sleepwalking into a dictatorship” if former President Donald Trump is reelected in 2024.

“I understand why people don’t like what he does and says at times,” Mr. Graham said. “But in terms of actions and results, he was a far better president for [sic] Biden. And if we have four more years of this, Liz Cheney, then we won’t recognize America and the world will be truly on fire.”

“I think a continuation of the Biden presidency would be a disaster for peace and prosperity at home and abroad,” the senator added. “Our border is broken. The only person who is really going to fix a broken border is Donald Trump. When he was president, none of this stuff was going on in Ukraine. Hamas and all these other terrorist groups were afraid of Trump.”

Ms. Cheney, a vocal critic of President Trump, was ousted as House Republican Conference Chair in 2021. At the time, Mr. Graham explained that her ouster was about “her belief President Trump should be purged from the GOP and those who objected to the results of the 2020 election should be disqualified from future leadership positions,” in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter.

“As a result, the House GOP Conference has decided to move forward in a different direction,” Mr. Graham added in his post. “I am hoping the Republican Party will understand the biggest threat to conservatism is not Donald Trump, but the liberal agenda being pushed by the Biden Administration and their radical allies.”

Last month, Ms. Cheney said she wasn’t ruling out a 2024 presidential run during an interview with CNN. She lost to Trump-endorsed Harriet Hageman in the Wyoming Republican primary in 2022.
