Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito’s Flag Controversy Explained

A very interesting story was reported by the mainstream media and what made it interesting was the confusion of the reporting in what was said, contrasted with what was not said. It showed not only media bias to the left, but their lack of respect for the right. It is also odd in that it is really old news passed off as new of now. Of course, reading between the lines, there is a liberal agenda.

What the legacy news media reported was an upside-down American flag displayed outside the Alexandria, Virginia home of Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito in January of 2021. They then went on to draw the conclusion this was a symbol associated with former President Donald Trump’s “false claims of election fraud” and the “Stop the Steal” movement. They were quick to point out protesters at the January 6, 2021 Capitol riot were carrying similarly displayed inverted flags.

A photo obtained and published by The New York Times showed an upside-down American flag flying on January 17, 2021 outside an Alito home days after Trump supporters protested at the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021. A second flag was displayed at one of the Alito homes identified as another type carried by protesters during the protest at the U.S. Capitol. That flag named an “Appeal to Heaven” flag was flown outside Alito’s beach vacation home last summer in New Jersey in July and September of 2023.

What multiple mainstream news sources have done is to try to drive home the point that these are flags of the J6 Capitol rioters or “insurrectionists” being embraced by Justice Alito. The mainstream news now is trying to make the claim this report raises concerns about Justice Alito’s impartiality. This comes as the high court considers major cases related to the J6 rioters and whether former President Donald Trump has immunity from prosecution of what Democrats and the mainstream news media have falsely labeled election interference charges.

One example of news bias is when MSNBC reported this story without background content blaming Justice Alito as being biased towards the Capitol rioters and pro-Trump as a conservative.

The MSNBC broadcast segment quoted Justice Alito as noting:

“I had no involvement whatsoever in the flying of the flag,” Justice Alito said in an emailed statement to The New York Times. “It was briefly placed by Mrs. Alito in response to a neighbor’s use of objectionable and personally insulting language on yard signs.”

Justice Alito responded more directly to Shannon Bream of Fox News though as she reported:

Bream: “He gave me a little more context, he said there were some signs out that had vulgarity on them (F*CK TRUMP) and Mrs. Alito addressed that to the neighbor. They were on a walk through the neighborhood and their words between Mrs. Alito and the man in that house using vulgarity. Justice Alito told me this man used the ‘C’ word with relation to his wife in front of him and after that…”

John Roberts: “He called her the ‘C’ word in front of the judge, or the justice?!”

Bream: “That is what Justice Alito told me.”

Roberts: “Really?!”

Bream: “And he said that at some point, she was obviously was very upset, went home did the flag, he had nothing to do with it, didn’t think it was a great idea, but it was there for a short time.”

Roberts: “He (the neighbor) is lucky he only got the flag and didn’t get the justice popping him one in the eye!”

But then, after this exchange is reported between Bream and Roberts on Fox News, the MSNBC panel comes on to put their best spin on why Justice Alito should recuse himself from the two cases noted above and their bias is laughable, as per usual.

Alito offers strikingly petty excuse for upside-down flag, affirms pro-Trump bias – MSNBC

Keep in mind, this recent media attack comes just a short time after a similar attack on another conservative justice, Clarence Thomas. Like Alito, he too has ignored calls to recuse himself from cases related to the 2020 election after his wife, Ginni Thomas’, showed support for Trump.

Of course the mainstream media shills then turn to their “judicial experts” who say the flags clearly violate ethics rules which are established to avoid even the appearance of bias. The Supreme Court had long gone without a code of ethics but adopted one in November 2023 after disclosure of undisclosed paid trips and gifts from wealthy benefactors to some justices. The code has no means of enforcement, as of yet.

CONCLUSION:

The U.S. Flag Code states the American flag is not to be flown upside down “except as a signal of dire distress in instance of extreme danger to life or property.” The “Appeal to Heaven” flag dates back to the Revolutionary war and October 21 of 1775.

Liberal Democrats fail to see why they are so widely hated but they had better wise up because they are clearly the minority in this nation where the majority rules.

Here are three takeaway lessons for Democrats from this article to look less like hypocritical clowns:

1. Don’t pretend concern about bias of the Supreme Court when your party’s Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) has openly threatened to increase the size of the court for the purpose of “stacking the court” to push your liberal socialist agenda.

2. This country is now in serious trouble thanks to Democrats un-American leadership so every American would be well within their right to fly their flags upside down. We can talk about the; stolen 2020 election to install an aged mentally unfit criminal usurper, borders left wide open for an invasion, unprosecuted serious crimes being allowed thanks to Soros-backed prosecutors and judges, an economy about to bottom out, the Cloward-Piven Strategy in practice with all of your illegal giveaways like college loan payoffs… the list seems endless.

3. America is a historically Bible-based founded country of Judeo-Christian values and laws and many Americans believe that is what has made America great as we found favor with God and Christ giving them their credit due. We, true Americans, will continue to Appeal to Heaven regardless if you approve or not.
