Amazon Adds Gas Benefits to Prime Membership

Prime members can link their Amazon account with BP’s Earnify rewards program to save $0.10 per gallon.

Amazon Prime members in the United States can now benefit from fuel savings at numerous gas stations, the company said in an Oct. 23 statement.

Prime members can save $0.10 per gallon at about 7,000 locations operated by BP, Amoco, and ampm, which could lead to an average annual saving of nearly $70 per member, the company said.

The initiative is part of Amazon’s ongoing efforts to expand the range of benefits available to its Prime members. Membership currently includes services such as free shipping on Amazon deliveries and access to various entertainment options.

To get the fuel savings, Prime members must visit Amazon’s dedicated webpage and link their Amazon accounts with BP’s Earnify rewards program.

Once activated, members can use BP’s rewards app to find participating gas stations nearby. To redeem the discount, members can either input their phone numbers or use a linked payment method at the pump.

The BP app also allows drivers to track their fuel savings and earn points that can be used for additional discounts or in-store purchases.

Amazon’s Vice President of Prime Jamil Ghani said, “We’re constantly looking to add more value for Prime members and perhaps the broadest and most popular additional benefit we could offer is fuel savings.”

In addition to the fuel savings offer, Amazon announced plans to provide discounts on electric vehicle charging in partnership with bp pulse, BP’s electric vehicle charging network.

This new benefit is expected to be available to Prime members in 2025.

Prime memberships are available for $14.99 per month or $139 annually, with discounted rates offered for young adults, students, and individuals qualifying for government assistance, according to the company.

Since its introduction in 2005, Amazon Prime has expanded its benefits to include unlimited free delivery, special deals, and entertainment options such as Prime Gaming, Prime Video, and music streaming services. Members also receive early access to Amazon’s Lightning Deals, enabling them to obtain discounts before non-members.

During major sales events such as Prime Day, Prime members have access to deals that last year saved customers nearly $24 billion, according to Amazon.
