Biden Says “I Don’t Mean It As A Criticism” When Calling China’s Xi Undemocratic

Before the Super Bowl President Biden was interviewed by Norah O’Donnell on CBS’s Face The Nation and Biden made a very, very disconcerting statement when he said, “I don’t mean it as a criticism” when describing Chinese Communist Party leader Xi Jinping as not having a “a democratic small deep bone in his body,” among other questionable things.

Transcript

Norah O’Donnell: Why haven’t you called Xi Jinping

Joe Biden: Well, we haven’t had a occasion to talk to one another yet. There’s no reason not to call him. I probably spent more time with Xi Jinping, I’ve been told, than any world leader has because I I had 24, 25 hours of private meetings with him when I was vice president, traveled 17000 miles with him, know him pretty well.

Norah O’Donnell: There’s a lot to talk about.

Joe Biden: A lot to talk about. A whole lot to talk about, and he’s very bright. He’s very tough. He doesn’t have, I don’t mean it as a criticism, just a reality, he doesn’t have a Democratic small deep bone in his body. But he is, the question is, I’ve said to him all along that we need not have a conflict, but there’s going to be extreme competition. And I’m not going to do it the way, that he knows this because he’s sending signals as well, that I’m not going to do it the way Trump did. We’re going to focus on international rules of the road.
