Silent Conquest (2013)

Silent Conquest  traces the progressive erosion of freedom of expression in the West from 1989 when Iranian Shia leader Ayatollah Khomeini issued a fatwa pronouncing a death sentence against Salman Rushdie for his book The Satanic Verses

The reaction to the fatwa against Rushdie among political and cultural leaders  was one of outrage but as more and more death threats and even homicides have been carried out against artists, journalists and others  in the West outrage has turned to acceptance.

It is now routine for people in the West to be threatened with death for expressions that offend Islam.  Further,  western governments have increasingly enacted hate speech laws which criminalize such expressions and prosecutions are against those whose expressions are offensive to Islam.

As the United Nations, Organization for Islamic Cooperation and United States work to implement

U.N. General Assembly Resolution 16/18 to prohibit expressions that discriminate against religious belief,  freedom of speech is under direct threat by what amounts to a global blasphemy code.

Locations include Washington D.C.,  New York City, London, Amsterdam, Copenhagen,  Stockholm.

The film features interviews with U.S. and foreign legislators, journalists, national security and other experts and Muslim, former Muslim and non-Muslim activists including:

  • Mark Steyn, Best-selling author
  • Rep. Allen West, Member of Congress
  • Geert Wilders, Member of the Dutch Parliament
  • Baroness Caroline Cox, Member of the British House of Lords
  • Brigitte Gabriel, ACT! for America founder
