Illegal Immigrant Children Enjoy Different Standard in Proof of Immunization, Florida Educator Says

In the United States, schools must accept the children of illegal immigrants as students. But one mother and educator says the children of illegal immigrants enjoy a different standard regarding proof of immunization than those of U.S. citizens.

โ€œPublic schools must accept illegal students and not require the same registration paperwork for admission as we would a U.S. citizen,โ€ the Florida educator explained, speaking to The Epoch Times under the condition of anonymity for fear that she would lose her job.

โ€œMost troubling is many districts allow illegal students admission and services for up to 90 days before they are required to present records like proof of residency or immunization.โ€

The administration of Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has also acknowledged the issue.

โ€œThe teacherโ€™s concerns about illegal migration and unaccompanied minors in Florida are valid,โ€ Christina Pushaw, press secretary for the Executive Office of DeSantis, told The Epoch Times. โ€œThe Biden administration has been an abject failure on immigration. In fact, mass illegal immigration is the administrationโ€™s policy, regardless of the damage itโ€™s doing to our communities.โ€

The educator explained that, because they canโ€™t deny registration of those students who provide no documentation, theyโ€™re referred to the public services. Because they have no immunization records, theyโ€™re also referred to the local health department of the area and given โ€œthree months to get their paperwork done and submitted.โ€

โ€œHowever, no U.S. citizen can enroll their child without proof of immunization,โ€ the educator said.

The Health Risks

โ€œAs Gov. DeSantis said last month, Biden campaigned on โ€˜shutting down the virus,โ€™โ€ Pushaw said. โ€œBut instead, he has โ€˜imported more virus from around the world by having a wide-open southern border.’โ€

DeSantis made the statement during an Aug. 4 press briefing.

โ€œYou have hundreds of thousands of people pouring across every month,โ€ he said. โ€œNot only are they letting them through, theyโ€™re then farming them out all across our communities across this countryโ€”putting them on planes, putting them on buses. Do you think theyโ€™re worried about COVID for that? Of course not.
