Former President Donald Trump this week excoriated Emily Kohrs, the forewoman of a Georgia grand jury convened as part of the Fulton County District Attorney’s probe into the 2020 election, for her recent string of media hits in which she appeared enthusiastic at the prospect of indictments.
Kohrs gave multiple interviews this week indicating that the grand jury had recommended that multiple individuals face charges in Fulton DA Fani Willis’s investigation of Trump’s efforts to challenge the results of the election in Georgia in 2020.
“This Georgia case is ridiculous, a strictly political continuation of the greatest Witch Hunt of all time. Now you have an extremely energetic young woman, the (get this!) “foreperson” of the Racist D.A.’s Special Grand Jury, going around and doing a Media Tour revealing, incredibly, the Grand Jury’s inner workings & thoughts,” Trump wrote. “This is not JUSTICE, this is an illegal Kangaroo Court. Atlanta is leading the Nation in Murder and other Violent Crimes. All I did is make TWO PERFECT PHONE CALLS!!!”
In one heavily retweeted MSNBC clip, Kohrs appeared to indicate her preference for issuing Trump with a subpoena solely on the basis of a prospective interaction with him.

The grand jury has previously secured testimony from numerous Trump allies, among them South Carolina Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham and former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani.
The former president has long contended that the myriad investigations against him are part of a larger political “witch hunt” to derail his career in Washington. Kohrs’ comments are likely to provide Trump with significant ammunition to continue pushing that narrative, and could provide him with a basis to move to dismiss any indictments from that special grand jury.
