A few weeks ago, hundreds of supporters of transgender people gathered at Oklahoma’s capitol to protest a slate of proposed legislation that would bar certain gender-affirming medical care for trans minors and young adults in the state.
The protestors gathered on the fourth floor of the Capitol in Oklahoma City outside of the House chamber about an hour before Gov. Kevin Stitt, a Republican, delivered his State of the State address, according to NBC affiliate KFOR.
Trans lives matter protest occupied the Oklahoma Capitol building to fight GOP bills that ban gender-confirming surgery for under 21-year-olds.

What do Americans think about issues surrounding “transgender” people?
A recent YouGov survey of 1,000 adults across red and blue states found that Americans were largely against so-called “gender-affirming” procedures for children. See this in the chart below and learn more here.
To understand how Americans compare various procedures performed on babies, children, and teenagers, a recent YouGov poll asked 1,000 U.S. adult citizens to tell us their opinions on the acceptability of nine scenarios, four of which involve gender-affirming treatments for transgender children or teenagers. See the results in the chart below and learn more here.
The intensifying debate over the rights of America’s transgender people is coming to a head this year, with scores of Republican-led bills aimed at banning puberty blockers in front of state legislatures.
Some 100 bills have been proposed across 27 states aimed at stopping children from accessing hormone-blocking drugs and other types of “gender-affirming care,” according to several groups and politicians who monitor the issue.
Other draft laws being debated in state legislatures cover everything from which pronouns can be used in classrooms, whether trans girls can play in trans sports teams, and if trans people must use bathrooms corresponding to their birth sex. See below a pictorial map of these bills in progress.
Perhaps as an adult in a free society, you are free to do as you want, relative to your sexuality. But if it involves children who are not old enough to make life-altering choices, some lines have to be drawn.
