The president says the conservative commentator is ‘willing and prepared to give up’ his show to take on the new role.
President Donald Trump announced on Sunday that Kash Patel has selected Dan Bongino, a conservative commentator, to be the next deputy director of the FBI.
Trump stated on his social media platform Truth Social that Bongino will serve under the direction of FBI Director Kash Patel, who was confirmed as FBI director by the Senate on Feb. 20. The president described Bongino as “a man of incredible love and passion” for the country.
Bongino previously served as a New York City police officer and a U.S. Secret Service special agent. He currently hosts The Dan Bongino Show, a podcast focused on political issues.
“Great news for Law Enforcement and American Justice!” Trump stated in his post, adding that the podcaster is “willing and prepared to give up” his show to take on the new role.
