The Senate legislation, Dianne Feinstein calls the โ€œAssault Weapons Ban of 2021,โ€ is co-sponsored by 34 Senate Democrats. It would also ban ammunition magazines holding more than ten rounds.

Feinstein was a driving force behind the 1994 federal assault weapons ban.

She has been quoted saying, during that time “If I could have gotten 51 votes in the Senate of the United States for an outright ban, picking up every one of them, โ€˜Mr. and Mrs. America, turn โ€˜em all in,โ€™ I would have done it. I could not do that. The votes werenโ€™t here.”
