Diving off the USS America

The question was brief, direct, and tinged with urgency. “Do you think the country has gone off the cliff?” This query was coming from an individual whose standard acknowledgment during a conversation always seems to include the ubiquitous phrase, “it’s all good.”

It was a striking contrast, inferring that current events are taking on an ominous concern.

Perhaps you may know someone similar?

Recently, the Deseret News wrote: “The American experiment is in trouble. Deaths of despair — due to suicide, drugs, or alcohol poisoning — have surged in recent years. Reports of happiness have plunged. Millions think the American dream is out of reach. Polarization in Washington goes from worse to worse.”

A quick scan of the headlines reveals much, and it doesn’t appear “it’s all good.”

I can hear it now about how much life is about perspective. Granted, the sinking of the Titanic was a tragedy for those who never got on a lifeboat, but it was nothing short of a miracle for the lobsters in the ship’s galley.

Such a paradigm proves how one’s perspective can be deceptive.

Living in the 21st century, many like to believe they are much more enlightened. This enlightenment includes an overzealous obsession with gender and in particular – sex. Recent headlines confirm this.

Despite laws continuing to shut down the business of abortion in certain states, Planned Parenthood committed a record number of abortions.

A federal appeals court ruled in favor of allowing boys in girls’ sports.

A man was arrested after allegedly stripping naked in a Planet Fitness women’s locker room while claiming to be a woman.

A 50-year-old man who identifies as a woman was able to “breastfeed” his grandchild after taking a series of experimental hormones.

Many American Catholic women’s colleges have no issue with enrolling men who think they are women.

I wonder if their biology departments are teaching how a man can have a baby, too?

Judges in the state of California who rule on child abuse cases must take an annual training course called “LGBTQ+ Considerations.” When gender ideology handcuffs the courts, the welfare of vulnerable children who are already at risk for depression and suicide are heightened. Supporting their confusion doesn’t lead to better mental health outcomes; rather it hurts them worse.

After judge blocks law protecting kids from transgender surgeries, Ohio calls on State Supreme Court to intervene.

This moral rot is taking the country down from the inside out. What our enemies need to do is just wait us out as the American nation commits suicide. Most alarming may not be the horrendous capacity for a nuclear exchange. Rather, it is the outright rejection of objective truth and rational thought as sustaining and indispensable guides to a purposeful life.

When facts become secondary to emotion, truth dies.

A society that does not value truth cannot survive.

Silence is not an option. Provided we are not teaching the next generation objective truth and morality, the Marxists certainly will.

Two other headlines also stood out:

Chicago Alderman, Byron Sigcho-Lopez, headlined an event where chants of “Death to America” resonated throughout the assembly. Not to be outdone shouts of “Death to America” rose at a rally observing Iran’s anti-Israel “Quds Day” in Michigan.

Such hateful conduct I expect in the Middle East, not in America’s heartland.

A high school student was suspended in North Carolina for saying the term “illegal alien.”

Free speech where has thou gone?

Looming on the horizon is the metastasizing 34,700,000,000,000.00 national debt accelerating America’s economic collapse. The number is never written out but to truly capture its magnitude, it must be. The Biden budget adds $1,000,000,000,000.00 every 100 days – while promoting the poison fruit of Bidenomics to anyone who will listen.

Either the younger generations don’t know or refuse to believe that their future earnings will be in jeopardy to service the debt. Until we get a balanced budget amendment and line-item veto nothing will change.

Since mankind’s historic fall, there has been plenty of malicious and malevolent behavior to go around. Given this year’s presidential election and provided Americans ever awaken from their agnostic stupor and realize that “salvation,” as Chuck Colson would pontificate, “doesn’t travel on Air Force One,” we will be much better off.
