Smug leftists are out of touch with the American public
MSNBC’s coverage of Super Tuesday sums up for many people what is seen as the smug attitude of the Left toward the legitimate concerns of America’s Conservative and even some Liberal voters.
Network anchors Jen Psaki, Joy Reid and Rachel Maddow cynically made fun of Virginia GOP voter concerns over the Biden administration’s ignorance of illegal immigration and its devastating effects on public safety.
“Daily Show” host, Jon Stewart is equally guilty, mocking the issue as if it isn’t an issue and accusing Conservatives of “fearmongering.”
Illegal immigration on its own is bad enough given the security risks involved, but one glance at crime rates in major cities where illegal immigrants are showing up should be clue enough as to what is wrong with this policy.
Gangs of young criminals now roam the streets at night and in broad daylight, carrying out robberies, assaults, and even murders.
According to Pew Research Center, “The growing number of migrants seeking entry into the United States at its border with Mexico has strained government resources, divided Congress and emerged as a contentious issue in the 2024 presidential campaign.”
And according to Pew, “Republicans and Democrats have very different views about whether the large number of migrants seeking to enter the U.S. has an impact on crime in the country.”
Republicans and Republican leaners overwhelmingly say the large number of migrants trying to enter the country is leading to more crime in the country: 85% say this, including 90% of conservative Republicans and 77% of moderate and liberal Republicans.
By comparison, a far smaller share of Democrats – 31% – say crime is increasing because of the migrant surge. Most Democrats (63%) say the number of migrants trying to enter the U.S. at the border doesn’t have much effect on crime.
The report was released after several high-profile criminal cases in New York City allegedly involving recent migrants, including an assault of police officers in Times Square and a string of cell phone robberies that prompted the police commissioner to declare in a recent news conference that “a wave of migrant crime” had “ washed over” the city.
Clearly, there is a problem in America, but Democrats are refusing to acknowledge the connection between illegal immigration and violent crimes.
It is true that there are arguments that illegal immigrants are not found to be involved in crime more than US citizens, but this argument is faulty when you consider that no person immigrating to America should be involved in crime at all. If they are arriving in the US and committing crimes, why are they here?
A CNN report noted another high-profile criminal case which drew national attention to the debate around immigration and crime after an undocumented immigrant was accused of killing nursing student Laken Riley on the University of Georgia campus. Several national and state political leaders pointed to the case to support their calls for tighter border security.
CNN also pointed out that Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp slammed the Biden administration’s border policies and said in a letter on X addressed to the president that federal action to secure the border “is the only way to wholistically [sic] address this ongoing crisis and ensure that Laken Riley’s horrible fate is not replicated across the country.”
To his credit, former President Donald Trump blamed Biden’s ridiculous immigration policies for contributing to Riley’s death and vowed to deport undocumented migrants if he is elected to the White House this fall.
Unfortunately for the Leftists, their dream of a utopia will remain shattered as long as their backwards border policies remain in place. Or perhaps they seek an American dystopia, and their immigration policy aligns with that vision.
Either way, no matter how much delusional people like Psaki, Reid, and Maddow mock Conservatives, the immigration issue will remain a real threat to the American people if Democrats maintain their hold on the White House.
Hopefully, we will see a change toward a better America in November.
