We know this because the quake was recorded by the famous historian Josephus at the exact time of the famous Battle of Actium, on September 2 of 31 B.C. It’s clearly documented not just historically, but physically. The Actium quake created a geophysical record in the strata of the Dead Sea that can be seen today. Not only can we see it, but more importantly, we can use it to find the evidence of an even more pivotal quake.
