Rep. Carlos Gimenez (R-FL) , a Cuban-American, recently spoke at the 57th convention of the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) a subsidiary of the AFL-CIO. It has some 330,000 members. Gimenez was there to introduce vice presidential candidate J.D. Vance (R-OH). This was the same convention where the mainstream media made a big deal about a handful of hecklers booing vice presidential candidate J.D. Vance for less than 2 minutes as he started to speak. Too bad they neglected reporting what Gimenez had to say.
Congressman Gimenez offered a good speech and introduction to J.D. Vance. Here is a portion of what he had to say:
“What I feel about this election this election is the most critical election I believe in American history is certainly the most critical election during my lifetime and while we respond every single day when the bell hits, because somebody is in trouble, America is in trouble right now. And the presidential candidate from uh the Democrat Party Kamala Harris wants you to believe that somehow the last four years did not did not happen. It just, they went from Trump right to her and she’s going to fix it all. Well she’s been the border czar uh for a number of years and immigration is a disaster, our border is a disaster, inflation has gone up, interest rates are up, it’s hurting every single man and woman and working family. She uh she tells you that she doesn’t want to ban fracking but then she’s told you she did want to ban fracking. She the… The world is aflame today. We have wars in Ukraine, we have wars in uh the Middle East Iran is about to get a nuclear weapon, we have communist China is increasingly becoming more and more powerful becoming a greater threat, and so all of this has happened during the last four years.
And so you know, as a firefighter, one of the things that I get is, I got a pretty, I’m pretty good with a BS meter uh because I guess we hear it so much in the firehouse every once in a while. Right? We BS with each other and so do you really believe that Kamala Harris, who’s the person who’s been in charge of the, of the border, is going to actually control the border? I don’t think so. Do you actually think that she’s going to stand up uh to communist China? Do you actually think that she is going to lead America uh from a position of strength and not of weakness which we’ve seen over the last four years? I just don’t think so. Do you actually believe that she’s has your best interest at heart?”
Another interesting aspect to this election cycle is even though UAW president Shawn Fain endorsed Joe Biden for president this year, much of his membership does not stand with Fain. There is a question if the UAW rank and file even got to vote on this endorsement, a deceptive practice many unions are guilty of today, endorsing a candidate without a vote of their 400,000 strong members. The electric vehicle (EV) mandates of the Biden-Harris administration to curb climate change has decimated the auto industry and the UAW membership have experienced this firsthand.

In an interview with Laura Ingraham UAW member Brian Pannedecker said, “Well, the Democrats, over the last 30 or 40 years, have become a completely different party. When I was a kid, in the 60’s and 70s, our family always said the Democrats represented the working men and women. Well, that’s no longer true. Ever since Ronald Reagan, I have been telling people, ‘If you are a working person in the United States, you need to be voting Republican because since Reagan was in office they represent people with family values. People that pay taxes. People trying to put food on the table for their families.’ So, I don’t even recognize the Democrat Party anymore. It’s a socialist Democrat Party. And Kamala Harris is the most liberal presidential candidate I think that’s ever been on a ticket in my lifetime.”

CONCLUSION:
I was a lifelong union member myself of both teachers unions, the National Education Association (NEA) and American Federation of Teachers (AFT). The NEA now boasts 3 million members while the AFT has 1.7 million members. The AFT, like the IAFF, is a subsidiary of the AFL-CIO.
To be honest, I do not have much use for these unions. When I really needed them, they were not there to represent me as an individual with a problem. They were much better at collecting my monthly dues.
After 40 years of teaching, I retired in 2016 after AFT president Randi Weingarten endorsed Hillary Clinton for president without a vote of the membership. I knew Weingarten was a progressive liberal Jew in 2016. She certainly checks all the boxes for the left. Retiring was my protest of my distain for Weingarten. Today my CAD technology program is half of what it was the day I retired in terms of programs offered, course offerings, and student enrollment. My program had the highest graduate placement rate and rate of pay in my college, 75-85% at commencement employed/$42,000 per year.
Proof, once again, one person can make a difference!
Presidential candidate Kamala Harris and vice presidential candidate Ted Vanz recently attended staged Labor Day activities in Detroit, Michigan, where she called former President Donald Trump a “scab”.

President Trump is not so much a scab as Harris is a phony and her two different accents between Michigan and Pennsylvania that day made for social media gold!
And Joe Biden, well, all the union members need to remember his words of 2020, “I don’t work for you.”
