The United States is calling on the Chinese Communist Party to end its persecution of Falun Gong.
“For two and a half decades, PRC authorities have targeted Falun Gong practitioners and their families in a campaign of abuses and rights violations,” the statement from the U.S. Department of State said.
The statement was made on July 20, a highly significant date. Exactly 25 years ago, just after midnight on July 20, 1999, police raided the homes of Falun Gong practitioners across China, making thousands of illegal arrests.
